Oh, Journalism

I've been busy. I'm less busy.
Anyway, Dustin Pedroia got a contract today that he deserved, and which will probably work out well for the Sox as well. My only comment is with the coverage:
Financial terms were not disclosed, but numerous media outlets in Boston say the deal is worth $40.5 million. The new pact covers Pedroia's remaining arbitration years and buys out two years of free agency -- three if the option is exercised.
But Pedroia's a full year away from arbitration. So his 'remaining' arbitration years are all of his arbitration years. In fact, the Sox control him at league-minimum next year -- the contract buys out his final year of unrestricted control, as well as his entire arbitration period. That's way better for Pedroia than this guy makes it sound. I mean, if I'm Jonathan Papelbon right now, I am pissssssssssssed.
Anyway, I thought that journalists were all losing their jobs. If I was in that line of work, I'd figure out what the rules around free agency were before writing about them. And no, I'm not nit-picking, so shut up before I cut off all 10 of your remaining fingers.
